At Uplifted Medical, we offer options for patients looking for anything from very subtle enhancement to a more noticeable change, while maintaining our natural-results philosophy.  For patients new to filler—or those who simply want a small enhancement—starting conservatively can allow the lips to be reassessed before deciding whether additional volume is desirable.  Your provider will recommend an amount based on your existing lip volume, anatomy, previous filler and desired outcome.

Previous filler is an important part of treatment planning.

Before simply adding more product, we assess the shape, volume, tissue and appearance of your existing filler.  If there is concern about previous filler placement, migration or an unknown treatment history, facial ultrasound may provide additional information about existing hyaluronic acid filler.  In some cases, the best treatment plan may be to avoid adding additional filler or consider dissolving existing filler before starting again.  Our goal is not to add filler simply because you booked a filler appointment. It is to determine what approach is most likely to produce a balanced, natural-looking result.

The longevity of hyaluronic acid lip filler varies between individuals.

Factors including the product used, amount injected, individual metabolism, lip movement and previous treatments can influence how long filler remains.  Rather than automatically adding filler according to a predetermined schedule, we recommend reassessing the lips and treating when appropriate based on your individual needs.

Yes. Not everyone wants or needs a full syringe. A more conservative treatment may be appropriate when the goal is subtle enhancement.

Dermal filler can migrate beyond its intended placement. Migration is multifactorial and can be influenced by anatomy, treatment history, product, placement and volume.

Careful assessment and avoiding inappropriate or excessive filler are important parts of our treatment philosophy.

Sometimes filler-related concerns can be assessed clinically.   Facial ultrasound may also be used to visualize existing hyaluronic acid filler and provide additional information when appropriate.

Not necessarily. Existing filler does not automatically need to be dissolved.

We assess your lips first. If existing filler is appropriately positioned and the lips can be treated safely and aesthetically, dissolving may not be necessary. If previous filler is contributing to an undesirable result, we may discuss dissolving before adding additional product.

Lip filler adds volume and structure using hyaluronic acid dermal filler.

A lip flip uses a small amount of neuromodulator, such as Botox®, to alter the movement of the muscle of the upper lip.  It does not add volume.

The treatments can be used independently or, in appropriate patients, as part of the same overall treatment plan.

Swelling varies considerably between patients. Some people experience mild swelling while others experience more noticeable swelling, particularly during the first few days.

We recommend planning your treatment with enough time before important events to allow swelling and bruising to settle.
